Join author Jon McGoran and Slow Food NYC at Huckleberry Bar in Williamsburg (just 2 stops on the L train) for a reading, discussion, and book signing of his newly released novel, Drift.
This ecological thriller delves into the increasingly frightening world of genetically modified foods and pharmaceuticals, with a fast-paced narrative full of cops, plot twists, and organic food. Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review: "McGoran impressively integrates concerns about genetically modified produce with an action-filled storyline and fleshed-out characters...The disturbing, but scientifically plausible, secret at the heart of the bad guys' schemes is an original one, and McGoran makes the most of it."
McGoran has written about food and sustainability for 20 years and is currently the editor-in-chief of Grid magazine, a Philadelphia-based publication focused on sustainability issues and initiatives. He helped found Philadelphia's Campaign for Greener Spaces and Healthier Foods, and works with groups including Just Label it/Right to Know, Food & Water Watch, and GMO-Free PA.
In addition, Huckleberry Bar will be offering their Wednesday night special: 2-for-1 glasses of wine. This event is free and open to all — we hope to see you there!
