SLOW U: Aw, Shucks, Oysters, Scallops, and Beer

In the famous back room at Jimmy's, join Karen Rivara, celebrity oyster farmer and founder of the Noank Oyster Cooperative, Gregg Rivara, acquaculturist with the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and our host, Jimmy Carbone, proprietor of Jimmy's No. 43 and the creator of the Good Beer Seal, for an evening of local oysters and the first ever harvest of farmed Peconic Bay Scallops on the half shell, and Jimmy's specially selected beer. In a casual setting, Karen and Gregg will shuck and tell you everything you ever wanted to know about oysters and scallops, while Jimmy provides the liquid cheer.

The cost of the ticket includes your first half dozen bi-valves and your first beer. Cash raw bar and beer bar will be open thereafter.

Proceeds from this event will support the programs of not-for-profit Slow Food NYC, including the Urban Harvest program of good food education for NYC kids. Urban Harvest supports programs in 11 schools, in the South Bronx, East Harlem, on the Lower East Side, and in Brooklyn and at a summer urban farm in East New York. More than a thousand Urban Harvest kids learn about the importance of good, clean, and fair food to their health and well-being, the health of their families and communities, and the health of the planet.
