Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream was launched in Spring 2008 by Ben Van Leeuwen, Laura O'Neill and Pete Van Leeuwen. They make their ice cream using only fresh milk and cream, cane sugar, egg yolks and finest flavors from small producers locally and around the world. There are now six trucks and three stores around Brooklyn and Manhattan serving their house made ice creams, Toby's Estate Coffee and fresh pastries from the Van Leeuwen Artisan Bakery.
At Van Leeuwen Artisan ice cream we care deeply about the environment and are committed to minimizing our impact on it.
All of our disposable goods are made from 100% renewable resources. Our cups and napkins are Bagasse, a fiber made from sugar cane husk. Our drink cups and spoons are made from corn husks. These products aren't only better for the environment, they are also better for you, as they don't leach dangerous petrochemicals.
In an effort to help preserve one of the worlds most endangered species, the Mountain Gorilla, we pledge one percent of our profits to Wildlife Direct, a grassroots organization based in the Congo with a mission to actively protect critically endangered species.
Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream's philosophy is simple. We pledge to use only the finest, unadulterated, all natural ingredients in our ice cream and pastries. We believe that this simple practice leads to an extraordinary product. It is also important for us to educate you, the consumer, about what makes these ingredients so special. We invite to read more about our flavors and The Van Leeuwen Artisan Bakery to see how we put this philosophy into action.
