Help Support Flock House, A Rooftop Garden—grow seedlings at home!!

Posted March 12, 03:03 PM UTC by sunil2

A great project for you or the whole family, you will be provided with seeds and all the instructions you need to nurture seeds into seedlings ready for rooftop planting. This project working title: Flock House, will take place at 33 Flatbush. Mary Mattingly envisions the final project below:

“The rooftop has approximately 2500 sq. ft. of growing space. I am working with some builders to design some triangular planters that can double as a shade structure (imagine a geodesic dome made from planters). These planters will be used illustrate different types of rooftop substrate growing.

We will also use kiddie pools to create garden beds for edible, medicinal, and especially native endangered foods. Around the perimeter of the rooftop, we can grow a small forest garden. We would like to utilize all of these techniques to use the roof as a show-space for different types of planting.”

If you want to help make Flock House a reality by growing seedlings or to find out more about the project, please contact Mary Mattingly at marytmattingly@yahoo.com.
