Bios:
Chef Peter Hoffman is a thinking cook’s cook; as interested in the cultural, historical and botanical backstories of the foods we eat as he is in making them taste delicious. For over 30 years, he has been using the Union Square Greenmarket as the base of his cooking, and he’s considered a pioneer of the “locavore” movement. Chef-owner of the renowned Savoy, Back Forty, and Back Forty West from 1990 until 2016, he was named a Slow Food NYC Snailblazer in 2014. Hoffman learned to cook from such legends as Madeleine Kamman and Romy Dorotan, and he has mentored countless cooks who have gone on to culinary greatness of their own. His previous writing has been published in the Washington Post, The New York Times, and Edible Manhattan. He is now the author of the highly-anticipated new memoir “What’s Good? A Memoir in Fourteen Ingredients,” available from Abrams Press on June 8, 2021.
Cathy Erway is the author of two cookbooks, The Food of Taiwan: Recipes from the Beautiful Island and Sheet Pan Chicken: 50 Simple and Satisfying Ways to Cook Dinner, and the memoir, The Art of Eating In: How I Learned to Stop Spending and Love the Stove. Cathy is also a winner of the 2019 James Beard Award for Home Cooking. She hosts the podcast “Self Evident,” exploring Asian American stories, and previously hosted the podcasts, “Why We Eat What We Eat,” which received the 2018 IACP Award for Best Podcast or Radio Show.
